The gold work is handmade of 18 karat yellow gold in a smooth wedding band 6 mm high in the bands front to 3 mm high in the back of the band. The natural hand cut Diamond is Mine cut and 10 points of a carat. The two natural “Corn Flower Blue” Sapphires are .06 points of a carat each. All are hand cut gemstones and original to the ring. The Sapphire in the Victorian Language of Gems meant “Innocence” and the Diamond meant “Forever Thine or True Love”.

Folklore, Legend, Healing Properties of Sapphires:
Its powers include spiritual enlightenment and inner peace. Sapphire is believed to offer healing properties. This wedding ring is from Asheville North Carolina and is circa 1865. The couple would have been married just after the Civil War ended.

The ring is a Size 7 ¼ and can be resized if needed. The gemstones are strongly set and the gold work is strong to wear also.
