This is marked 9 karat and with a letter I for the year 1857 and the anchor symbol for Birmingham. The handmade links are the perfectly made of long links and rings. The bracelet is held together with lock in the shape of a heart, which opens. The lock is marked on the back with the gold karat and the letter and maker. Then hand inscribed to Flora on 2-7-10 when it was given to a loved one exactly 100 years ago this month (February).
The lock is also hand engraved on the front. It also has a safety chain that is original to the bracelet. The links are ¼ of in inch wide and the bracelet is 7 inches inside when closed. That is an average length of a bracelet today, but links could be added or take away if needed. This is a quality gold circa 1860 bracelet that is in excellent condition and fine to wear.
