This brooch’s setting is handmade of 9 karat yellow gold in the popular ribbon setting. The center is layers of glass with one layer on the underside of white and the top layer pink. Then on the top pink layer is hand painted a scroll design in white enamel which is baked onto the glass and then a second layer is painted with gold gilt and baked on the white scrolls. The brooch is 1 ¾ of an inch wide and 1 ¼ inches wide. The T-bar pin and C-clasp are original to the brooch which is circa 1860 and in excellent condition and fine to wear.
