This is still in the handmade time of Victorian Jewelry and is really nicely made. It is set in sterling silver with two rubies and two pearls. The other stone is Marcasite that is cut beveled and polished on the front and used to decoration.
Marcasite is a pyrite that are cut and polished into small rose cut gems. Marcasite was used in the 18th century through the early 20th century. It is very hard to find the early Victorian items; this is in wonderful condition and is strong to wear. The pin is also enameled and wonderful hand cut setting of sterling silver. The pin is 1 ¼ inches tall and the width is 1 1/8 inches wide. The pin is a beautiful antique original item which is circa 1860 and is in excellent condition with the original T-bar and C-clasp.
